If you’re a fan of Zara, you’ll no doubt be excited for the fashion giant’s Black Friday sale. One of the biggest and best of the season, it’s just mere weeks away, so keep reading for everything you need to know, including what to shop, how to tackle Black Friday and how long the sale will last.

Unlike many high street sales that go on for the whole of the week before Black Friday, Zara’s only lasts for one day only. Everyone’s favourite high street brand brand famously quite literally never do discount codes either, saving their generosity for the Christmas period and summer sales. This only makes it more exciting when they do hold sales, and the next big one is just around the corner. Zara always takes part in Black Friday, so if you’ve had your eye on something specific like that leather jacket, pair of jeans or chunky pair of boots, you might want to make the most of the discount.

What is Black Friday?

Black Friday is an annual shopping event which takes place on the last Friday in November, the Friday after Thanksgiving. It marks around a month before Christmas and usually kicks of Christmas shopping season. Many brands across many categories such as fashion and tech slash their prices for one day only.

As Black Friday has grown in popularity (especially here in the UK), many of the sales now last all weekend. Cyber Monday takes place the following Monday, and is when all the sales are held exclusively online. Following Cyber weekend, prices usually go back down so it’s seen as a great time to land some bargains for your loved ones.

However it’s becoming regular practice for brands to increase their prices in the six weeks prior and then discount them back down to their regular prices, meaning it’s less likely you’ll find a bargain. This is certainly not always the case though.

When is Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2024?

In 2024, Black Friday is on 29th November. Cyber Monday happens the following Monday, which is actually in December this year on the 3rd. Black Friday happens on the last Friday of November every year, so while the date slightly changes, the rough time frame remains the same every year. It’s roughly a month before Christmas, so is marketed as a great time to buy presents for your loved ones (or yourself).

Does Zara take part in Black Friday and Cyber Monday?

Zara takes part in Black Friday every year, but the sale lasts one day only. The brand opted out of Cyber Monday in 2023, 2022 and 2021, so it’s unlikely it will hold a CM sale in 2024 – although not impossible! We regularly share our top picks from Zara’s new in section if you’re still looking for your Zara fix.

When does the Zara Black Friday sale start? Our prediction

We’re predicting the Zara Black Friday sale to kick off on November 28th at roughly 10pm in the Zara app, before moving to Zara.com an hour later and being available to shop in-stores on Black Friday itself, as that was the timeframe in 2023.

How long will the sale last?

We’re expecting the Zara sale to last until the end of Black Friday. There won’t be another Zara sale before Christmas.

While many Black Friday sales don’t offer great value for money, Zara’s actually does. This is because Zara doesn’t increase their prices beforehand, nor do they offer any discount codes. Their sales are few and far between too!

How much can you expect to save?

Zara usually offers 40% off selected items. That’s a pretty hefty discount! That said, the Black Friday sale is never quite as big as the January sale, which kicks off from Christmas Day and lasts throughout the month of January. During this sale, you can expect to save up to 60% – but it’s a risk if you’re planning to wait, as many items sell out incredibly fast in the sale.

When will the next sale be?

The next big Zara sale will be the site-wide winter sale that takes place around Christmas and lasts throughout January, until stocks last. As the Zara sale is so popular, the most wanted items tend to sell out really, really quickly. While you’re waiting, you can shop Zara’s Special Prices section. The fashion retailer offers discounted pieces in there, so it’s worth browsing.

How to shop the Zara Black Friday sale

Identify wardrobe gaps

Before you panic buy, take a deep breath and think practically. Have a game plan. What do you actually need – if anything? Map out the items your wardrobe definitely needs and what you’d wear them with. Do you need some winter sweaters, a gorgeous shearling jacket or a faux leather skirt? Make sure you know what you’re looking for beforehand.

Create a wish list

To ensure you don’t overspend, select some items you really, really want and add them to a wish list ahead of time (this is how to add items to your Zara wish list). If you look at the sale on the day and those items aren’t included, don’t make a purchase. If you didn’t save them, they’re not worth adding to your online shopping cart!

Download the Zara app

One of my favourite hacks is to sign up to Zara’s newsletter and download the app. True Zara fans will know that they consistently starts the sales on the app first, before moving it to the website an hour later and to stores the following day. If you’ve been organised and planned what you’re going to buy, this will be the quickest way to checkout without panic buying. The next Zara sale starts from December and offers better discounts, so if you can wait until then, do so.

What to shop in the Zara Black Friday sale

Big ticket items

Wondering what’s actually worth buying? As you probably know, Zara’s most expensive items tend to be their coats and boots. My advice would be to invest in Zara’s more expensive items, as these important staples are what you’ll get the most wear out of. A saving of 25% is huge when you’re buying a pricier piece too.

Dresses

Zara’s dresses are also really, really good, and while they’re affordable anyway, there’s certainly no harm in buying one or two that you’re going to wear a lot. Zara’s knitwear is also notable; I have plenty of jumpers that I’ve held onto for years and that have lasted me well.

Perfumes

Did you know that Zara’s perfumes smell super similar to designer fragrances, like those from Dior, Chanel and Tom Ford? They’re definitely cheap already, with prices starting at just £5.99 for a mini fragrance that slips in your handbag easily – but why not stock up with an extra discount?

When is Zara’s biggest sale?

Contrary to popular belief, Black Friday is not when you’ll find the biggest and best sales at Zara. The best Zara sales happen twice yearly in June and then December, lasting throughout January.

The reason I think these are so much better is because the discounts are so much bigger, starting at around up to 50% off nearly all lines and increasing as the sale progresses to up to 60% off. Almost all lines are included in the sale (except for the new collection), so when you go into a Zara store during sale season, almost everything you see is on sale.

I tend to wait until the Zara sale and then buy investment pieces for winter like knitwear, outerwear and boots. I bought this green knitted dress a couple of years ago and it’s now one of my favourite pieces to wear in winter.

Which are the best days to shop at Zara?

According to Who What Wear, all Zara’s get new stock twice weekly – usually on Mondays and Thursdays. Naturally, this makes these days a great idea to shop in-store.

If you’re online shopping, this doesn’t really apply. The website is stocked and restocked regularly, so you’re in with the best chance of getting pieces that you might have missed out on online – especially as you can sign up to stock alerts. Read more about Zara’s restocks.

Cheap Luxury Handbags opinion

As consumers are becoming savvier to the impact of overconsumption on our environment and the individuals working to produce garments, many brands have decided to boycott Black Friday over the past few years. This included brands Monki, Next, and Rixo, all of which opted out of Black Friday in 2022.

While we don’t condone overspending, we do want fashion to be accessible to those impacted by inflation as well as those who struggle to shop sustainably due to size constraints.

We love fashion and the freedom of self-expression it brings and understand you’re going to want to shop the sales. We encourage you to be mindful of your spending and avoid buying items you’re probably going to discard of in a year’s time.

Shop smarter, not harder this Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Ensure you’re not overspending by setting yourself a budget beforehand and creating a wish list of items you actually need rather than want – including Christmas gifts for others – if you are going to spend.
