Wondering when Shanghai Fashion Week is, how to attend and which designers will be making an appearance? I’m sharing everything you need to know about the upcoming schedule and dates for Shanghai Fashion Week, so you don’t need to wonder any longer. Following the success of 2023’s event, creatives from all over the World will be reunited in the buzzing capital city for the next SFW, taking place in October.

The event has been going for over 20 years (with the exception of 2020’s event, which was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic), after first kicking off in 2001. It had grown to become one of the most exciting events to take place in the city, showcasing designers from both emerging and established, local and international designers, with some notable names including Ximon Lee, Uma Wang, Masha Ma and Helen Lee. When is Shanghai Fashion Week?

Shanghai Fashion Week will begin on October 8th, 2023, showcasing the Spring/Summer 2024 collections to fashion designers, buyers, media, celebrities, influencers and other fashion professionals. This event follows March’s event, which saw Autumn/Winter 2023 collections presented to industry insiders for the first time.

Who organises SFW?

Supported by the Ministry of Commerce, SFW is currently organised by the Shanghai Textile Group and hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Government. They aim to build a connection by representing local designers on an international platform.

How do you get into SFW?

To get into Shanghai Fashion Week, you’ll need an invitation from a specific designer to watch their show. If you’re looking to gain entry, you’ll need to reach out to each designer’s PR or design team directly. However only those in the fashion industry will be invited to attend.

The good news is that Shanghai Fashion Week is livestreamed online, so keep your eyes peeled on each designer’s social media profiles, as well as the official Instagram channel for Shanghai Fashion Week and the official website.

Can I get tickets for SFW?

Unfortunately, tickets for the SFW are not for sale and can only be obtained via invitation or reservation from designers, brands, and media. 

Where is SFW held?

The location of the upcoming 2024 Spring/Summer Shanghai Fashion Week is yet to be announced, but most likely it will be within the city, just like the previous one. The last week-long event took place in the stylish district of Xintiandi.

How do I watch SFW online?

Unless you’re planning to travel to China, you can stream Shanghai Fashion Week through their official website, YouTube channel, on Taobao Live, and Alibaba’s live-streaming channel. You don’t even need to change out of your PJs to tune into the glamorous event!
