What Goes Well With Jumpers? Here Are 5 Outfit Ideas That Work Every Time
Autumn style sorted.
It’s time to dig out your jumpers as sweater season is here, but if you’re not sure what to wear them with, I’m here to help. With the help of my favourite influencers and fashion girls, I’m giving you 5 foolproof outfit ideas you can screenshot and save for later.
The new season can throw up all sorts of questions when it comes to your wardrobe. When the weather changes, I always panic about my clothes and conclude that I have nothing to wear. As a content creator and fashion writer, it’s literally my job to make sure my wardrobe is up to scratch so I have a few tricks up my sleeve when the doubt rears its ugly head.
I’m just about to do the big wardrobe switchover, putting away all my summer clothes and hanging my knits, coats and layers back up. This is obviously necessary and always reminds me of the great clothes I have that can be reworn again and again.
But the new season also brings about new trends, and while you don’t have to adopt them all, there will always be some that take your fancy. I’ve been working on a Pinterest board of inspo for my autumn wardrobe, which I’m constantly looking back at to make sure anything I buy aligns with the looks I love.
Jumpers are a non-negotiable part of any person’s winter wardrobe, so I’ve also done some digging on Instagram to find some killer outfit ideas. If you’re wondering what to wear with jumpers, hopefully these will offer some much-needed inspo. Save these jumper outfits for later by screenshotting them or adding them to your Pinterest boards.

Mix and match your prints

Jumpers don’t have to be boring! Mix and match a printed knit sweater with a pair of trousers in a contrasting print, like Kerry Walker. Look for similar tones running through both pieces to clash prints seamlessly. This also works with skirts too!

Wear a sweater with a pleated skirt

You’ll be hard-pressed to avoid the pleated mini skirt trend this winter. If the short length makes you feel nervous, opt for a longer style just above the knee.
If you’re feeling brave, make the most of the sunshine with bare legs. Team yours with a jumper or add tights when it gets chilly outside. Tuck it in like Franki (above) or wear it loosely for a relaxed look and add a jacket or coat for added warmth.

Wear an oversized jumper with jeans

For those days when you don’t have time to think, throw an oversized jumper on with a pair of great jeans. Add sneakers for busy days or cowboy boots when looking good is your top priority, and if it’s really chilly outside, add a denim jacket. Throw on layers of jewellery and sunglasses to finish off the look. White jeans will work really well too.

Team a sweater vest with a dress

Ok, it’s not strictly a jumper but this sweater vest and dress outfit is too good not to include. What it lacks in long sleeves, it makes up for in practicality. Wear it for that in-between weather, when it’s not too hot and not too cold and you have absolutely no idea what to wear. Take a coat with you and you’ll nail the transitional period.

Try a cardigan and maxi skirt

If you have more cardigans in your closet than cable knit sweaters, make like Mira (above) and wear yours with a maxi skirt. Keep it relaxed and leave a few buttons undone, giving a glimpse of your tummy (or t-shirt). Add a blazer if you’re dressing up.
