Due to the pandemic, 2020 saw many events cancelled including Glastonbury festival, The Oscars, and Vogueโs Met Ball โ but will it take place in 2021?
The annual fundraising event usually takes place in spring, with celebrities such as Beyoncรฉ, Blake Lively, Kim Kardashian and many, many more in attendance.
As youโd expect from a Vogue event, attendees always offer some of the most talked-about outfits of the year.

Is the Met Gala cancelled in 2021?
This yearโs event will go ahead, it has been confirmed.
Vogue announced the news online, writing, โPending government guidelines, a slightly smaller celebration is planned for 13 September 2021.โ
Last yearโs event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a statement on Vogue.com, the magazineโs Editor-in-chief and Condรฉ Nastโs global content advisor Anna Wintour said of the 2020 event, โDue to the unavoidable and responsible decision by the Metropolitan Museum to close its doors, About Time, and the opening night gala, will not take place on the date scheduled.โ
When is the Met Gala 2021?
Despite last yearโs event being put on hold, the Met Gala is expected to take place this year on September 13, pending government guidelines.
Page Six first reported the news, with a source explaining that the event is being postponed as the first Monday of the month lands on Labor Day this year. Vogue then confirmed the news and revealed it will be a smaller event, split into two parts.

Whoโs invited to the Met Gala 2021?
Aside from the usual faces we see, the event supposedly expanded its guest list this year. What to expect? More influencers. Or at least thatโs what โleakedโ seating charts for the event revealed. It turns out that they were fake though (much to the relief of many Met Gala fans).
While we still donโt know who will be there for sure, we already have confirmation of who wonโt attend. Singer Dua Lipa has reportedly shared that she will sit out for this yearโs fashion event due to film commitments.
