Is ASOS True to Size? A Guide to ASOS DESIGN, Jeans & Clothes & If They’re True to Size
For the perfect fit.
Ever find yourself wondering if ASOS is true to size? Then you’ve come to the right place. I’m as into online shopping as the next person, but sizing is one of the most challenging parts of buying online. It’s so frustrating when you can’t get the size right and the items you’ve ordered don’t fit you properly, or when you have to order three different sizes and spend too much money to work out which will fit.
After receiving a few disappointing parcels because I couldn’t get the sizing right, I’ve said to myself that before hitting that ‘add to cart’ button, I need to do my research to avoid wasting time, effort, and, of course, money.
One look at ASOS will make you feel like a kid in the candy store. Their summer dresses are both affordable and unique (and they often look way better when you get them IRL) and I’ve got a soft spot for their jeans, but finding the right size is imperative.
ASOS actually suggests which size you should get based on your previous purchases, which is really helpful, but it’s still worth reading up about how their sizing fits as I’ve recently bought pieces in my usual size that were way too big.
Here, I’ll be sharing everything you need to know regarding their sizing. Next, read about ASOS’ best perfumes. If you’re wondering about sizing at other brands too, check out our guides to sizes at Zara, Massimo Dutti, COS and Mango next.

Is ASOS true to size?
From my personal experience, I’d say ASOS’ sizing runs a bit bigger as compared to other retailers. In July 2023, I bought a selection of ASOS DESIGN dresses and while I’m usually a size 10, the size 8 fit better. I also find ASOS COLLUSION runs really large, especially as most of the pieces are unisex and offer an oversized look. I bought an oversized COLLUSION shirt in my regular size (below), and while the style was definitely meant to be baggy, it’s a really huge shirt.

On Reddit buyers share their experiences with the store’s sizing, and the majority agree that most of the time, it runs a little bigger too.
If you are torn about whether to size up or based on your true size, you can check out ASOS’ sizing guide. The category is divided into women and men, with subcategories indicating a variety of garments so you can get the perfect fit. Let’s say you’re looking for dresses; the subcategory shows the UK size ranging from 4 to 18, with the bust, waist, and hip measurements in inches or centimeters alongside it.
If you regularly shop at ASOS, you’ll find that the brand will suggest which size to get when you’re shopping. Reviews on each item also offer a guide about whether the specific item runs small, big or true to size, and this can be found on shoes too. It’s helpful to remember that ASOS stocks hundreds of brands, but I’m just talking about ASOS’ own brands here.
How do ASOS jeans fit?
I recently did a big ASOS denim shop and bought five pairs on at home. I ordered every size in a 28″ waist and 32″ leg as I’m usually a size 10 and I’m 5″7. It was interesting to find how differently they fit. This pair of dad jeans was seriously loose-fitting and had an extra-long leg, while the power stretch flares fit perfectly.
I recommend getting your regular size, as the styles that were super baggy were listed as being loose fitting and none of them were too small.

What size do ASOS models wear?
The online fashion retailer now shows clothes on a variety of models of all shapes and sizes, so you can see how the garment will fit someone with a figure like yours. ASOS also indicates the model’s height and the size that she is wearing, as seen on the app or website. This varies, so it’s best to check each specific item.
Do ASOS coats run big or small?
The majority of ASOS clothing comes a bit bigger and the same goes for coats. However, if you want to make sure, instead of just basing your order on sizes 4 to 18, why not use the sizing guide and measure your bust, waist, and hip area to assess whether you want a slick fit or an oversized coat?
What does ASOS extended sizing mean?
ASOS offers extended sizing to cater to a wider range of body shapes and sizes. They now carry clothes in sizes 2XS to 4XL, and for taller individuals, 2XS Long to 3XL Long.
How do I know my size in ASOS?
To find your perfect fit, you can easily access size guides directly on each product page through the “Size Guide” button. Additionally, ASOS provides comprehensive Women’s and Men’s size guides that include measurements, fitting tips, and washing instructions for a smooth shopping experience.
ASOS size guide
To get the best fit, take a look at the ASOS size guide. It lists body measurements for every item, including coats, skirts, dresses, tops, lingerie, shoes and even tights and socks. I know you probably can’t be bothered to get out the measuring tape, but it might come in handy if you don’t want to buy a few sizes!
