5 questions to ask before closing your ASOS account

Before you close your ASOS account, ask yourself these questions first. These will guide you on whether or not you’ve made the right decision on closing your ASOS account.

Do I have any outstanding orders?

Before closing your ASOS account, ensure your orders are received. Although ASOS updates you via email, closing your account might make it more difficult for you to track or manage your orders.

Have I made any recent returns?

It’s best to wait for your returns to be processed and receive your refund before closing your account to make sure there’ll be no problems ahead.

Do I want to save my order history, addresses, or wishlist items?

If you’re eyeing something at ASOS and add it already to your wishlist, make sure you take note or bookmark it first. These will be permanently deleted when you close your account.

Do I have any ASOS vouchers or loyalty points?

Don’t lose the vouchers and loyalty points you’ve saved up from before. Consider using them before closing the account.

Are you sure you don’t want to take a break instead?

You can simply avoid logging in for a while. This way, you can reactivate your account easily if you ever want to use ASOS again, and your information will still be there. You can also unsubscribe from their emails if you don’t want to hear the inside scoop from ASOS in the meantime.

Why did ASOS close my account?

During previous years, numerous shoppers have shared their sentiments on Reddit (you can find lots on Reddit Thread r/LegalAdviceUK) and TikTok that their accounts were permanently banned on ASOS. While we can’t exactly say why ASOS has closed your account, we can speculate the possible reasons based on what other users have reported.

One possible reason is unusual return activity. Apparently, ASOS has cracked down on customers who they believe are abusing their return policy since 2019. This could involve returning a high number of items, returning items that have been worn or damaged, or returning items outside of the return window. Because of this, ASOS may have erroneously banned customers for life, including Alyssa Bock, who was mistakenly banned after asking for a refund for the two sweaters she hadn’t received.

Story Time. I Need Help!!!! Hit me in the comments – is it me and I the drama?? Or is it @asos for blaming me for a package that arrived without the items I ordered and paid for?!

Another possible reason is suspicious payment activity. If ASOS detects any suspicious activity related to your payment method, they might deactivate your account for security reasons.

Aside from that, violating ASOS’s terms and conditions could lead to them closing your account.

If your account happened to be closed by ASOS without reasonable grounds, you may contact their Customer Care team so they will be able to shed light on why your account was closed.
