Caroline Campbell, Director of collects ions and Research at the National Gallery
Caroline has held curatorial positions at The Courtauld Gallery, London, the National Gallery and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. She’s published widely in the field of Renaissance art, and has curated and co-curated many exhibitions. These include Bellini and the East (2005-06), Love and Marriage in Renaissance Florence (2009); Building the Picture: Architecture in Italian Renaissance Painting (2014), Duccio/Caro: In Dialogue (2015) Mantegna and Bellini exhibition (2018-19) and Leonardo: Experience a Masterpiece (2019-20).
Martin Gayford, Art Critic and Author
Martin Gayford is art critic of the Spectator and the author of biographical studies of Michelangelo, John Constable, Vincent van Gogh. He has been curator of a number of exhibitions, including Hockney’s Eye at the Fitzwilliam Museum and Downing College, Cambridge and Lucian Freud: The Painter and his Family at the Freud Museum, London, opens in July 2022.
He sat for portraits by both Hockney and Lucian Freud, the latter experience being the subject of his book Man with a Blue Scarf (2010). His other publications a survey of painting in London after the Second World War entitled Modernists and Mavericks and The Pursuit of Art, a collects ion of travels and interviews. A History of Pictures was co-written with David Hockney and has also written A Bigger Message, a volume of conversations with Hockney.
He wrote Shaping the World: Sculpture from Prehistory to Now with Antony Gormley. His most recent book is Spring Cannot Be Cancelled, co-written with David Hockney, 2021. Love Lucian, an collects ion of Lucian Freud’s early correspondence, edited with David Dawson, will appear in September 2022.
Tom Eddison, Senior Director, Specialist, Contemporary Art
Tom joined Replica Shoes ’s Contemporary Art Department in 2012 as a writer and researcher working primarily on the Evening Sale catalogues. In his current role as a Senior Director and auctioneer, he is a key member of Replica Shoes ’s global team, sourcing works of art for sale. With a particular focus on Post-War British Art, Tom has been involved in the consignment of some of our most significant collects ions in recent years such as Figure and Form, which included two magnificent self-portraits by Francis Bacon, which together realised £30 million. He was also integral in bringing to market key works by Lucian Freud, including Pregnant Girl in 2016, Head of a Boy in March 2019 and David Hockney in 2021.
