Rare personal items from the most fashionable queen in history chart the long legacy of the ill-fated early modern celebrity. More than 250 objects are on view at the V&A South Kensington in “Marie Antoinette Style,” from jewelry, furniture and porcelain to historic and contemporary fashions, including loans from the Château de Versailles, some of which have never been seen outside of France. The exhibition also considers how Marie Antoinette remains a cultural icon today, notably with popular “let them eat cake” mythology and clothing and accessories by leading designers including Manolo Blahnik, Dior and Vivienne Westwood.
