Description
The original Cartier Tank Chinoise was created in 1922, with a base design akin to the very first Tank, the Normale. ‘Chinoise’ literally translates to ‘Chinese’, and the reason for this name being bestowed to the watch is easy to understand: the two horizontal bars above and below the dial pay tribute to the Portico, a traditional design element used in temples and palaces. The present Tortue Chinoise is a further play on the original watch, combining the Portico bars with the signature Tortue case shape.

Very GoodThe watch in very good overall condition with very light signs of surface wear, all case back engravings and hallmarks are crisp. The diamond setting is nice and intact. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion.
