  • Printed by Galerie Maeght, Paris and published by Hochschule St. Gallen, Switzerland in 1967.
  • Lithograph in colors on BFK Rives Paper.
  • Hand-signed and numbered.

This lithograph in colors is hand signed in pencil by the artist “Calder” at the lower right image. It is also hand numbered in pencil from the edition of 150, at the lower left image.

The subject is one of 24 original prints by various artists created as a contribution to the Grafikmappe Hochschule St. Gallen [Graphic Portfolio University of St. Gallen].

This project was conceived as a means of raising funds for the University’s own art fund. It was created in connection to the opening of the University’s new building for Economics and Social Sciences in the Spring of 1963 and the architecture of this building was used as the inspiration for the contributing artists. In the spirit of philanthropy, all artists donated at least one and on occasion two original prints in a variety of media to the project. Within three years, from November 1963 to autumn 1966 all 150 portfolios had been sold.

The contributing artists were Hans Aeschbacher, Jean [Hans] Arp, Jean Baièr, Walter Bodmer, Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, Ernest Coghuf, Pietro Consagra, Dam Francis, Ferdinand Gehr, Alberto Giacometti, Etienne Hajdu, Zoltan Kemeny, Umberto Mastroianni, Joan Miró, Otto Müller, Alicia Penalba, Giuseppe Santomaso, Kimber Smith, Piere Soulages, Antoni Tàpies and Italo Valenti.
