A gilt copper alloy triad of Padmasambhava with Yeshe Tsogyal and Mandarava, Tibet, 15th century

Acquired in Hong Kong, 2010.

Padmasambhava, “Lotus born”, is seated on a lotus arising from the cosmic ocean, with his two consorts at either side on flowers supported by tendrils emerging from the main stem. His Indian consort Mandarava holding a water pot appears on Padmasambhava’s right, and his Tibetan consort Yeshe Tsogyal holding a skull cup on his left.
