Domaine Fourrier
Côte de Nuits, 1er Cru
Levels into the neck, packed in 12 bottle oc
In 2011, a wonderfully bloomy, warm nose of violets, undergrowth and bramble jam. Inner power and yet subtlety. One knows from the 'tension' that it will fill the mouth - and it does, in voluptuous style. I thought it had the weight of a 1999 and that is because it is a real 'old vines' wine. So fresh on the palate, bursting with fruit and vigour. A year later, a bouquet of red cherries and wet earth, with density and the sheer fragrance of a top cru - this surges up at you. Lovely immediacy and attack on the palate. Redcurrants and liquorice. Very young - it still has to develop all the complexity of this Grand Cru pretender. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
