In 1966, Dalí created two medals for the "Monnaie de Paris" and started minting his own currency known as the "Dalí d'Or". Representing himself and his wife and muse, Gala, the coins were made over a ten year period in conjunction with Huguenin Frères and had four denominations ranging from half a Dalí d'Or to five Dalí d'Or.
The present model is the result of a collaboration between Yves Piaget and Salvador Dalí. The Dali d'Or coin depicting the faces of Salvador and Gala Dalí adorns the bracelet as a hinged cover that conceals a watch. Beautifully preserved, the present watch is a wonderful opportunity to add this intersection of Surrealism and high horology to any discerning collects ion.
