Launched at Basel in 2005, the Hublot Big Bang marked a defining moment for the brand, earning the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève and establishing itself as a symbol of contemporary watchmaking innovation. Drawing on the design language of Carlo Crocco’s original 1980s MDM models, it retained the signature porthole-inspired bezel with exposed screws and the iconic rubber strap, reinterpreting Hublot’s heritage with a bold, modern vision—much as Audemars Piguet did with the Royal Oak.
The present Ayrton Senna edition was produced in limited numbers, incorporating avant-garde materials such as carbon fiber, commonly used in Formula 1 engineering but rarely seen in horology. Its skeletonized dial evokes the mechanics of racing engines, while the sapphire crystal discreetly bears Senna’s signature. Proceeds from the initial release were directed to the Instituto Ayrton Senna, underlining Hublot’s commitment to both innovation and philanthropy.
