The duo Arotin & Serghei is devoted to the exploration of infinity and to the transgression of boundaries between painting, sound, light, and space. Their opus magnum Infinite Screen unfolds within emblematic contexts such as the Venice Biennale, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Fondation Beyeler, and the Centre Pompidou. In Metamorphosis 3, the work is structured around two parallel piano strings tuned to 330 Hz, corresponding to the note E. Though silent, these strings establish a conceptual and spatial field of resonance, translated visually through vibrations of color and light. The integrated prisms fragment and recombine the pigmented surfaces, generating an unstable chromatic fusion in constant transformation. Formally restrained, the work nonetheless initiates a profound reflection on art and the digital condition. Painting here becomes a perceptual device — a process and a temporal, sensory experience — in which infinity is conceived as a continuous metamorphosis from the visible toward the immaterial, engaging directly with the technological and philosophical questions of our time.

Le duo Arotin & Serghei se consacre à l’exploration de l’infini et à la transgression des frontières entre peinture, son, lumière et espace.

Leur opus magnum, Infinite Screen, s’inscrit dans des contextes emblématiques tels que la Biennale de Venise, le Kunsthistorisches Museum de Vienne, la Fondation Beyeler de Bâle et le Centre Pompidou Paris. Dans Metamorphosis 3, l’oeuvre se construit à partir de deux cordes de piano tendues en parallèle et accordées à 330 Hz, fréquence correspondant au mi. Bien que muettes, ces cordes instaurent un champ de résonance conceptuel et spatial, transposé plastiquement par la vibration de la couleur et de la lumière. Les prismes intégrés fragmentent et recomposent les surfaces pigmentaires, générant une fusion chromatique instable, en perpétuelle transformation.

Cette oeuvre d’apparence simple se fait ainsi comme le point de départ de réflexions profondes sur l’art et le monde digital. La peinture devient ici un dispositif perceptif, un processus, une expérience temporelle et sensorielle. L’« infini » y est envisagé comme une métamorphose continue du visible vers l’immatériel, c’est un dialogue avec les enjeux technologiques, et philosophiques de notre époque.
