G. Beretti, Il Mobile dei Lumi, Milano, 2010, p.308, fig. 73.

As pointed out by the Italian art historian Giuseppe Beretti (G. Beretti, Il Mobile dei Lumi, Milano, 2010, p.72), this is one of the few examples of lacquer furniture produced in Milan in the third quarter of the 18th century. The scrolling foot resting on an elevated base is typically Milanese and is seen on a related painted chair photographed in the Sala dell'Olimpo at the Palazzo Attendolo Bolognini.
