with a tall cylindrical stem supporting a bowl with deep rounded sides flaring at the rim, the exterior of the bowl painted with four blooming peonies, each issuing from a jardinière, the flowers alternating with four butterflies, all above a border of pearl strings around the tall foot, the interior decorated with a leafy lotus medallion at the centre and a wavy band below the rim, Japanese wood box
