modelled after archaic bronze zun vessels, the bulging body decorated with two dragons writhing amidst foliate scrolls above cresting waves, separated by vertical flanges and framed between bands of lappets and classic scrolls, the trumpet neck and tall flaring foot similarly decorated, the mouth encircled inside and out by a floral scroll, the recessed base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character reign mark within a double circle, Japanese double wood box

The present vase is one of the finest and rarest examples from the Wanli period. Although similar zun-form examples are known, wucai vases with flanges like the current one remain absent. See a related blue and white example in the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum. Blue and White Porcelain with Underglazed Red (II), Shanghai, 2000, pl. 171. Compare also a vase from the collection of the Manno Art Museum, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 28th October 2002, lot 534.

本件出戟尊屬萬曆時期最為精罕之代表作。雖仿古尊器形已有先例，然如本品般帶棱脊之五彩花瓶，存世罕見。可資比照者，惟見北京故宮博物院藏一青花相近例，見《故宮博物院藏文物珍品大系·青花釉裏紅（中）》，上海，2000年，圖版171，然無棱脊裝飾。另可比較萬野美術館舊藏一例，釋於香港佳士得2002年10月28日，編號534。
