Among Patek Philippe’s post-war wristwatches, few designs capture the imagination of collectors quite like reference 2429. Distinguished by its bold, sculptural case and elongated, stepped fancy lugs, this model exemplifies the creative confidence and refined aesthetic of the period. Produced for only a short time between 1948 and 1953 and in extremely limited numbers, it remains one of the most distinctive and desirable references of its era.
The present example, cased in platinum, stands out for its understated elegance and harmonious design. The silvered dial, featuring applied baton hour markers and a subsidiary seconds display, perfectly complements the refined geometry of the case. The defined lugs retain their original stepped form — a remarkable detail, as excessive polishing would have easily softened or erased their distinctive profiles.
Stamped HOX on the movement, this example was originally intended for the American market. Fresh to the market, it is the tenth example to appear publicly out of only twelve platinum pieces known — representing a rare and important opportunity for collectors of Patek Philippe’s most imaginative post-war creations.
