Released at Baselworld in 2012, the reference 5235 is the first Patek Philippe wristwatch featuring a regulator, having independently placed hour and minute hands. Taking inspiration from an old regulator clock hanging in former Patek Philippe president Philippe Stern’s office, this regulator styled watch featuring a large central minute hand and two sub-dials that indicate hours and seconds was innovative yet beautifully designed.
Powered by a practical annual calendar movement created specifically for the reference 5235, it is also Patek Philippe’s first movement to feature hacking seconds enhancing accuracy when setting the time. On top of the many attributes this timepiece offers, it is also undeniably attractive by featuring a silver two tone dial with a vertical satin brushed finish. The fine white gold case takes inspiration from the legendary reference 3448 with its angled straight lugs and bands brushed, juxtaposing the satin finish of the dial. Unique to Patek Philippe’s typical designs, this timepiece is just as elegant and stylish, making it a wonderful addition to any collection.
