Description

Comprising: a brooch designed as butterfly, the wings composed of engraved rose quartz, accented by oval amethysts and circular-cut tourmalines, the body set with a baroque pearl, embellished with brilliant-cut diamonds, signed L. Camino, maker's mark, case stamped L.Camino; and three brooches each designed as ears of wheat, one set with citrine beads, the others set with facetted amethyst beads, the leaves embellished with green enamel.

Luz Camino is a Spanish jeweller who began creating in 1978 and continues to work exclusively with Spanish artisans. Inspired by nature and by iconic figures such as René Lalique, her work seamlessly blends precious and semi-precious gemstones, often drawing on traditional techniques. Echoing the craftsmanship of the Art Nouveau era, Camino frequently employs plique-à-jour enamel and translucent stones, such as the rose quartz seen here, to explore themes of light and transparency.

Her creations are typically one-of-a-kind or produced in limited series of no more than 100 pieces. A testament to her exceptional artistry, Camino’s work is held in the collections of major international institutions, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
