According to the inscription, Levitan gifted this watercolour to K.S. Shilovsky. This most likely refers to the actor Konstantin Stepanovich Shilovsky (1849-1893).
On the reverse, the sheet bears an authentication dating from 1928. It was signed by two individuals, with one signature reading Aladzhalov. This is possibly the signature of Manuil Aladzhalov, a landscape painter who had studied under Levitan.
