length 3.4 cm; 1 ⅜ in.

Acquired by George Howard, Baron Howard of Henderskelfe (1920 – 1984);

The present lot is similar to two Fabergé animals in the Royal collection: the first, a miniature agate model of a pig commissioned at Sangdringham, circa 1907, (illustrated in C. de Guitaut, Fabergé in the Royal Collection, p.70, pl.50); the second, a chalcedony model of a wild boar, circa 1908 (RCIN 40260).
