Description

Aberlour The Mouth Of The Chattering Burn 53 Year Old 1967

  • Aberlour is proud to debut their oldest treasure ever released, The Mouth of the Chattering Burn, a remarkable 53 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, distilled in 1967 and matured for over half a century in a single cask.

  • First put into glass in 2020 at 45.0% abv, the whisky was rebottled especially for The Distillers One of One Auction in 2025.

  • This exceptional single malt is presented in a handblown magnum (1.5 litre) glass decanter, crafted by renowned Swedish master glassblower Micke Johansson in collaboration with master mould-maker Gunnar Englund, with intricate carvings on its surface by glass artist Simon Holm.

  • The decanter is presented on a bespoke presentation display that repurposes the original hand-carved tree mould it was created in. A true One of One decanter, never to be repeated.

  • The lot includes a 10cl sample for the winning bidder.

Tasting Notes:

On the nose, rich fruit notes of ripe black cherries, fresh strawberries, and orange zest entwine with floral notes of crushed violets and orange blossom.

The palate reveals vanilla and the buttery richness of honeyed sponge cake, layered with earthy liquorice and toasted almond notes. Sweet and creamy notes of golden honey, rich vanilla fudge, and indulgent milk chocolate are lifted by seasoned raspberry and tangerine.

The finish is smooth and sweet, with a rich, lingering fruitiness that speaks to the whisky's significance.

1 bottle 1.5 litre + 1 sample 10cl (presentation case)
