the base with a six-character mark in underglaze blue within a double circle


Diameter 16.8 cm, 6⅝ in.

Collection of Samuel H. Minkenhof (1879-1956), and thence by descent.

Compare a similar dish preserved in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, included in the Special Exhibition of Hsuan-te Wares, National Palace Museum, Taipei, 1980, cat. no. 120; and another of slightly larger size from the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Clark, sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 17th May 1988, lot 33, and again in 27th October 1992, lot 46. A further example from the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sedgwick was included in the Exhibition of Monochrome Porcelain, Oriental Ceramic Society, London, 1948, cat. no. 110.
