It is probable this form is that which is mentioned in Derby China factory papers on June 16-23, 1770: "Making of Pidgeon House Perfume Pot..."', reproduced in Franklin A Barrett, and Arthur L. Thorpe, Derby Porcelain, 1971, p.151, taken from Duesbury family papers. A second example of this form was in the collection of Thomas Burn, Rous Lench Court, sold, Christie's London, May 30, 1990, lot 402, included in the 1951 exhibition Chelsea China, at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, exh. cat., no. 166, and the 1977 English Ceramic Circle Jubilee Exhibition, exh. cat., no.144. A "large dove house ornamented with natural flowers and richly gilt", appears in a later list of sales from 1781-83. The Derby factory likely imitated the form produced at Chelsea from the mid-1750's, an example of which is included in the Classic Design at Replica Shoes 's New York in October 2023.
An example of this model was acquired by Henry Walters, Baltimore by 1911 and is now in the Walters Art Museum, acc. no. 48.844.
