Compare a similarly rendered 'phoenix' jade vase fashioned with wheels, attributed to the Qing dynasty and modeled after Han dynasty prototypes, in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, published in Masterworks of Chinese Jade in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, 1969, cat. no. 35. See also another similar 'cockerel' jade vase formerly in the Florence and Herbert Irving Collection, subsequently gifted to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, sold in these rooms, 10th September 2019, lot 18; a slightly taller white jade 'cockerel' vase attributed to 18th/19th century, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 17th January 1989, lot 989; another Jiaqing period 'cockerel' vase sold in these rooms, 17th April 1985, lot 216; and the fourth, taller 'phoenix' vase sold at Christie's London, 16th December 1987, lot 514.
