Description
Joseph Finch Rare Bourbon 15 Year Old 86.8 Proof
Distilled in the Spring of 1981, bottle #1324 of 2400, proof of authenticity RB1, ullage: top shoulder
Along with Henry Clay 16 Year Old, Joseph Finch was supposed to inaugurate a new series of luxury bourbons, Rare Bourbon, launched in 1997 by United Distillers (today Diageo). The Joseph Finch name actually began with a Pennsylvania Distillery, which a forerunner of United acquired during Prohibition. As with Henry Clay, only 2,400 bottles were produced before United, seeing an utter lack of interest from whiskey fans, pulled the plug on the series. The company was simply ahead of its time; decades later, not only would luxury American whiskey no longer be an oxymoron, but the whiskeys in the Rare Bourbon series would become coveted collector’s items.
