This embroidery is a characteristic example belonging to a recognizable group with designs attributed to London pattern drawer John Nelham. English textile scholar Margaret swain discovered a related piece bearing John Nelham's signature and address and has confirmed the attribution of this work. See Swain, "John Nelham's Needlework Panel," The Bulletin of the Needle and Bobbin Club, Vol. 65, 1982, pp. 3-16.
