This beautiful adoring Angel recalls the angels in Benedetto Buglioni's Coronation of the Virgin in Ognissanti, Florence. In other respects it relates closely to the works of Benedetto's nephew, Santi Buglioni, such as the kneeling figure in his Madonna del Soccorso relief in Naples (see op. cit. 2009, p. 282, no. 110). Compare also a kneeling angel from the workshop of Benedetto and Santi Buglioni in the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore (inv. no. 27.438).
