Two metal-mounted lidded glass ewers, in the Austrian Secessionist style
the taller with green glass spot detail
height the tallest 35.5cm., 14in., the smallest 21cm., 8 1/4in.
Both ewers are in the style of the Austrian Secession, formed in the late 19th century as the formal beginning of modern art in Austria. Often referred as the Austrian version of Art Nouveau, the movement was spearheaded by artists like Gustav Klimt and Koloman Moser preferring simple, geometric forms and decoration.
