Bernardi's controversial treatise on the categories of Aristotle was first published in Basel in 1545. Marcello Cervini, one of the cardinals responsible for bringing Paolo to Rome, had studied Aristotle with Bernardi.
4to (211 x 160 mm). Roman type, 32 lines plus headline. collation: A-M4: 48 leaves. Woodcut Aldine device on title-page. (Scattered foxing and browning, a few unobtrusive marginal wormholes.)
binding: Contemporary limp vellum (213 x 165 mm), stubs from two pairs of ties. (Slightly soiled, small split to spine.)
