Livraisons 1-4, 4to (333 x 259mm.), 24 stipple-engraved plates printed in colour and finished by hand, the majority by Heyland, contemporary cloth-backed boards, light scattered spotting, some light offsetting, boards slightly rubbed, spine slightly sunned


A rare work by the influential Swiss botanist Augustin Pyramus de Candolle (1778-1841). This copy is from the library of the de Jussieu family, known for their eminent contributions to the field of botany from the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries
