An Austrian Parcel-Gilt Silver "Gothic" Hanukkah Lamp, Vincenz Lang, Vienna, circa 1900
the center applied with a rose-gilt crowned plaque flanked by lions, removable rack of lamps, finials restored
Length 10½in. (26.6 cm)
A similar example can be found in Jay Weinstein, A Collector’s Guide to Judaica, London: Thames & Hudson, 1985, p. 130, fig. 157.
In the tablets: “He shall set up the lamps on the pure lampstand before the Lord [to burn] regularly” (Lev. 24:4).
This prolific maker sold Judaica as well as household silver (Waltraud Neuwirth, Weiner Gold- und Silberschmiede und ihr Punzen 1867-1922, 1977, p. 18).
