A Pair of Algerian Silver Torah Finials, signed Sebououn Fabricant, Oran, early 20th century
three-tiered tower form chased with scalework, hung with three shapes of bells, staves with Hebrew inscription, marked with French marks and maker NS, signed at bases
Height 15 in. (38 cm)
Engraved in Hebrew on both staves: “In memory of the esteemed pursuer of righteousness and loving kindness Rabbi David bar Isaac Bengio, may he abide in Eden.”
The Bengio family was prominent in Tangier, Morocco.
