Extremely Fine and Rare Rococo Cast-Brass Epergne, Probably German, Circa 1760

A nearly identical example is illustrated in Rupert Gentle and Rachel Feild, English Domestic Brass 1680-1810, (New York: E.P. Dutton & Co., Inc., 1975), p. 166, no. 227. Another closely related example is in the collection of the Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum (acc. no. 1994.0079). Both examples are lacking their serving tray unlike the currently offered lot.
