Tim Hailand is a photographer examining the intersection of photography and other visual media. He draws reference from landscape, traditional modes of American and European portraiture, the patterns of Toile de Jouy wallpaper, and the typographic language of twentieth century advertising. Often depicting psychologically loaded words or phrases imposed through reflection or refraction onto bodies or scenes of the urban environment, Hailland creates distinctly modern, dreamlike compositions infused with drama, anxiety, and tension.
Exhibitions of Hailand’s work have been held at Arthur Roger Gallery, New Orleans; Eric Buterbaugh Gallery, Los Angeles; and Kasher Potamkin Gallery, New York among others.
