NIKE, NIKE SB DUNK LOW, SIZE 9.5

2008

As a part of the Nike SB Brazil Custom Series, Nike SB commissioned a variety of influential Brazilian skaters and photographers to collaborate on this collection of Dunks. The pack included 3-4 styles, each with individual touches from various important Nike SB partners in the region. All of the pairs from this series were produced in Brazil.

For one of the three installments from the third Brazil Custom Series, Fabio Cristiano joined Nike SB to help create this special pair. Since all of the models were themed around music, Cristiano took inspiration from the cassette tape to produce this design. The pair features bold, black overlays atop white, black and purple paneling. Graphic designs based on the cassette tape are featured throughout. When the shoe was released in 2008, it was reported that only 480 pairs were made available and all were sold exclusively in Brazil.

The Nike SB Dunk made its formal debut in 2002, when Nike officially reworked the famed Dunk basketball sneaker, originally designed in the 1980s, with upgrades suited for the skateboarding community. The man behind it, former Nike executive Sandy Bodecker, is credited with building one of Nike’s most beloved subdivisions in the early 2000s with the Nike SB line.
