A quintessential part of the Octa collection, the Octa Lune would be the 4th watch released under the Octa family in 2003, after the Octa Reserve de Marche in 2001, Octa Chronographe in 2001 as well and the Octa Calendrier 2002. It would be the first instance of the moon phases to appear on the Octa collection, which F. P. Journe describe it as one of the most poetic horological complication.
While the brass movement era of the Octa Lune are mostly discovered with a yellow gold dial and a platinum case, the present watch here is an uncommon configuration with a pink gold dial against a matching pink gold case. It is not until after the introduction of the pink gold movement does this combination start to surface. In 2015, F. P. Journe redesigned the dial and upscaled the size of the Octa Lune to up to 42 mm. However, collectors are still fascinated by the classic nature and historic importance of the present 38 mm example with brass movement.
