each modeled standing holding a lobed gu-form vase on one hand and supported by the other, wearing white robe decorated with floral sprigs and gilt medallions over a long floral dress, the face delicately modeled with a smiling expression

height 16 in.; 40.8 cm

A nearly identical pair, formerly in the collection of Dorothy B. Hammerstein, New York, sold in these rooms, January 27th, 1988, lot 375, later offered at Christie's Monaco, January 17th 1990, lot 10; and once again offered and sold at Christies London, April 22nd 1991, lot 31. Another pair, with both ladies holding the vase on the left hand, was sold at Christie's New York, January 23rd, 2008, lot 144. A related pair, modeled standing on lotus leaf-form bases and wearing iron-red robes, formerly in the collection of Ezra and Cecile Zilkha, sold in these rooms, November 20th, 2020, lot 62.
