Description
Château Sociando Mallet 1998
Haut Médoc
Good levels and appearance; Bons niveaux et apparence
Very deep colour. Nose of rich chocolate, then aromatic cedarwood. Totally luscious texture - all the tannins melt in superb harmony. If this is the result of controlling yield by pruning, rather than green harvesting, bring it on. In 2011, again, a deep, black colour, typical of this superbly placed cru. A glorious nose of smoky blackcurrants and black cherries. Heavenly glycerol caresses the palate with massive, velvety black fruit. Great concentration. So vibrant, endlessly unfolding in all its hedonistic intensity. One of my top Médocs in the vintage and stunning with fresh pappardelle and my own Bolognese sauce made with minced beef from the great Yorkshire, and London, butcher, The Ginger Pig!
