Two surimono

Edo period, 19th century

 

each a woodblock print, surimono, embellished with metallic pigments and embossing, from A Series for a Gathering of the Elders of Poetry (Shoshikai bantsuzuki), signed Hokkei, privately published circa 1822, and comprising:

- Court Lady (Joto monin) [Fujiwara no Shoshi, 988–1074]

- Princess Yamato Hime with a crane

 

Both surimonoshikishiban: 21.2 x 18.9 cm., 8¼ x 7½.
