Oblong folio (442 x 582mm). 20 chromolithographic plates after Kilbourne mounted on card, in original 10 parts with illustrated blue wrappers preserved; Pike plate with residue from text leaf adhered, striped bass plate partially adhered to text leaf at head, pompano plate adhered to text leaf, some very minor occasional chips to plate mounts, text and wrappers with various chips and tears. Cloth portfolio; worn.
Sold as a collection of plates, not subject to return.
A remarkable work covering both saltwater (Snapper, Redfish) and freshwater (various trout and bass) species. George Brown Goode, the American ichthyologist who ran the Smithsonian fish research program provided the text.
