8vo. Original dark green cloth; endpaper cracked at rear inner hinge. Pictorial dust jacket by Cleonike, tiny stain near the unbattered lips.


First edition. Presentation copy, inscribed facetiously by the author in blue ink on the front free endpaper: “For Bob Ingalls, In memory of a summer on the Baltic Sea from His Faithfully, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Juan-les-Pins 1926.”


The Fitzgeralds stayed at Juan-les-Pins on the Riviera from March until December 1926; All the Sad Young Men was published at the end of February. It was his third collection of stories (containing nine), including several of his finest: “The Rich Boy,” “Winter Dreams,” “The Baby Party,” “Absolution,” and “The Sensible Thing.”
