Description

A Pair of continental silver 8-light Art Nouveau candelabra, marked 900M, circa 1900

Circular, openwork, moulded with scrolls and ivy, fixed nozzles, initialed AJ in Art Nouveau lettering, bases fitted with detachable electro-plate mounted lead discs with silver nuts for loading.

60cm., 23 3⁄4in. high

4012gr., 129oz.

It has been suggested on silver forums that the M mark is for Gustav Meinert of Berlin, others suggest the M is for 1000 as 900/1000. The stamp Unecht or not real silver on the bases of the discs do imply a German speaking provenance for the manufacture.
