A Victorian Silver-Mounted Etched Glass "Cellini pattern" Claret Jug, George Fox, London, 1891
cast with Renaissance style ornament of strapwork panels centered by masks, the exposed glass body finely cut to match with masks, strapwork, birds, animals and floral and foliate swags, wrythen urn finial and female caryatid handle, fully marked right of lower handle terminal, part marked elsewhere

The "Cellini" design was very popular in Victorian England, being widespread by the 1870s and continuing for over thirty years. Examples were made all in silver, all in glass, and this interesting fusion of the two, where the glasscutter echoes the silver decoration.
