The present works were originally part of an album containing one hundred and fifty-nine drawings by Busiri of Italian capricci and landscapes. Originally in an eighteenth century vellum binding inscribed on the cover 'Book of drawings' and 'Sketch book of Francesco Bolognese.'  Datable to the 1730s or 40s, the collection of sketches illustrates Busiri's movements outside Rome at this time, and his debt to Bolognese drawings of the previous century.
