The tradition of miniature Qur’ans is mostly associated with Safavid Iran and Ottoman Turkey, and the manuscripts were often kept in metal cases and attached to battle standards as amulets. This Qur’an probably travelled to Ottoman Turkey as it is preserved within a gilt-copper tombak box engraved with Turkish couplets.
