Sold in these rooms, 15 October 1998, lot 605.

This finely calligraphed miniature Qur’an was formerly in the collection of Edward E. Ayer (1841-1927), an American business magnate and member on the first Board of Trustees of the Newberry Library, Chicago. He amassed and subsequently donated more than 17,000 items to the Newberry Library, nearly all of which are related to Native American and colonial era history. A label on the inner cover of this manuscript notes that it was donated in December 1920.
