This boomerang is of an extremely rare and unusual form with its protrusion extending below the central arch. It was reputedly collects ed in the Great Sandy Desert of Western Australia in the 1920s. There is a somewhat related example with a similarly carved protrusion extending at the top of the arch in the collects ion of the South Australian Museum; that example was collects ed in Central Australia in 1909.
